The Importance of Movement During All Stages of Pregnancy

pregnancy

Whether you are trying to conceive, are currently pregnant, or are in your postpartum phase, keeping your body moving during all of these stages is vital to ensuring a more optimal pre, during, and post-pregnancy experience.

BIRTHFIT Basics

There are many resources to glean content from, however, Vaida’s own Dr. Emily is a certified BIRTHFIT Leader.  BIRTHFIT offers a wealth of information specific to how to intentionally move your body safely through exercise, movement, and breathwork during a transition into motherhood.

BIRTHFIT Basics are a group of range of motion exercises utilizing simple poses and/or movements.  They have an online YouTube channel that houses over 25 succinct videos to choose from.  These BIRTHFIT clips include modifications and breathing tips.  Dr. Emily can teach and guide you through these varied movements in addition to providing your chiropractic care.

Barre3

Another wonderful recommendation for new moms (or soon-to-be moms) from the Vaida team is Barre3.

Their online classes include a dedicated prenatal and postpartum collection with workouts designed to support your changing body. They also have a YouTube channel you can subscribe to.  Dr. Lydia enjoyed participating in Barre3 classes throughout her pregnancy and during her postpartum recovery and healing period.

Melissa Wood Health (MWH)

Melissa Wood Health is another amazing go-to resource. They offer virtual Pilates, yoga, and meditation classes with both prenatal and postnatal-friendly movements and modifications.  Their class durations range from super-short 7-minute upper-body exercises to longer 30-minute full-body options.

Why Regular Chiropractic Care Is Recommended for For All Stages of Pregnancy

Nine months of pregnancy and the act of giving birth is the most athletic event of one’s life.  Dr. Lydia and Dr. Emily encourage getting plenty of movement to support the many changes your body will go through.  A daily walk, yoga and stretching, a more structured class or a variety of exercises and/or mindful breathing applications are all ways to keep a body moving gently during any stage of pregnancy.

Receiving regular chiropractic adjustments promotes stability and optimal function, improves range of motion, and supports better sleep cycles, all of which help boost mood and energy.  Keeping your body in alignment can mitigate the inevitable aches and pains as your body grows a baby and recovers after delivery.

We would love to have you visit us at Vaida wherever you might be in your pregnancy journey.
